Some hero's are self made and some are drawn in to heroism with no plans of becoming a hero.
In the end the feeling is the same self satisfaction Luke Skywalker wanted to become a hero. Luke left home to become a Jedi knight and find greatness. He said he wanted to be like his father.
Doug had no idea he was about to become a hero. He went out to dinner with Quinn and said " Hey if you're buying why not." There was no plan to save anybody, he was just hungry. Luke had trained to become a strong force against evil. He showed this power to concentrate as he flew the narrow path into the death stars core. Doug realized he was in a deadly situation too. He noticed his friends weird behavior and said "He really is going to kill himself." He knew it was his job to stop it. The two heros had one thing in common, Luke was the hero of the universe while doug saved one mans life. in the end both hero's felt the warm feeling of success.
